Advanced Pediatric Vascular Access Course

A Joint Effort Between Sidra Pediatric Anesthesiology, Simulation, Vascular Management Team, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive care Unit, Interventional Radiology & Surgery Department.

Learning Objectives:

1. Demonstrate and explain the skills on proper manipulation of the ultrasound probe and needle to produce diagnostic ultrasound images of vascular anatomy.

2. Identify and explain the ultrasound imaging characteristics of vessels, surrounding structures, needle, and catheters on phantom

3. Critique the strategy of selecting the appropriate choice of catheters, needles, guide wires.

4. Describe and interpret the appropriate technique to use for fixation and the exact location of the tip of the vascular catheters.

5. Categorize and describe the early detection and prevention of complications related to vascular access.
