The Department of Surgery at Sidra Medicine is pleased to launch the Bowel Expansion And Rehabilitation (BEAR) webinar series. The free webinars focused on intestinal rehabilitation and short bowel syndrome is open to local, regional and international attendees.

Featuring local and international experts and speakers, the bi‑monthly, CME‑accredited format will provide sustainable, expert‑led education in a highly specialized field.  Attendees can expect to learn

how to address variabilities in care, improve the recognition and management of complications and foster multidisciplinary collaboration.

Objectives

  • Analyze the core principles of intestinal rehabilitation across pediatric and adult populations to differentiate age-specific management needs.
  • Evaluate surgical versus medical management pathways to justify clinical indications and optimal timing for intervention.
  • Formulate comprehensive management plans for complications including IFALD and sepsis based on clinical diagnosis and patient history.
  • Integrate multidisciplinary strategies—spanning surgery, nutrition, and nursing—into a unified patient care framework.
  • Execute evidence-based clinical reasoning when making decisions in complex, real-world intestinal failure cases.
  • Appraise emerging developments and innovative interventions to determine their utility and feasibility within regional clinical practice.
