Prof. Tariq Abbas

Prof. Tariq Abbas
Pediatric Urologist, Sidra Medicine

Dr. Tariq O. Abbas, MBBS, IMRCSI, FEBPS, CAB GPS, FEAPU(Int.), Ph.D. is a pediatric surgeon who completed a world-class, highly competitive fellowship program in Pediatric Urology in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and a fellowship of pediatric urology in Sidra Medicine, Doha, Qatar. He later finished a Ph.D. in the Department of Health Science and Technology, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark, titled “Development of a tissue-engineered urethral substitute for the treatment of severe hypospadias.”

He serves as an editorial board member for a number of reputable journals and is a member of several international clinical and research societies. He has published extensively on pediatric surgery and urology with more than 110 peer-reviewed articles and more than 50 international and local presentations and has conducted several ongoing research projects focusing exclusively on child health with a special interest in hypospadiology research.

Dr. Abbas has been a consultant general pediatrician at Sidra Medicine since 2020, and he loves to teach fellows, residents, and medical students at any opportunity as he hopes to support the next generation of physicians.

Santiago Vallasciani

Pediatric Urologist, Division Chief, Sidra Medicine

Dr Santiago Vallasciani is the Division Chief of Urology in Sidra Medicine, Dr Santiago joined the team in 2018 as Senior Attending Physician. He was formerly the Chief of Pediatric Urology Division in King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After his graduation in the Medical School in Argentina, Dr Vallasciani moved to Italy where he developed his career in Pediatric Urology as subspeciality of Pediatric Surgery. He has a special interest in Genito-Urinary reconstruction and Minimally invasive surgery. Dr Vallasciani published over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and more than 100 congress abstracts. His interest covers also research either clinical, basic and public health and received international awards for that. Medical Education is another of his interests with Faculty position in Al Faisal University in Riyadh and currently as Assistant Director of the Pediatric Urology Fellowship in Sidra.

He is active internationally with participation as invited speaker in meetings and visiting surgeon.

Prof. Alaa El Ghoneimi

Prof. Alaa El Ghoneimi

Alaa El-Ghoneimi, MD, PhD, FEBPS, FEAPU, is Pediatric Urologist, Professor of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Paris. He is Head of department of Pediatric Surgery and Urology at the university Children Hospital Robert Debré. He is national coordinator of the French reference center of rare malformations of urinary tract, MARVU. He accomplished training, fellowship, clinical and academic practice in different programs of pediatric surgery and urology: Cairo (Egypt), Toronto (Canada), Nice, Marseilles, Paris (France). His fields of expertise are minimal invasive surgery, DSD and hypospadias surgery, renal transplantation, and reconstructive surgery. He is a research director; on the main topic of obstructive uropathy. He is member of the French Academy of Surgery. He has published more than 140 international publications. He is the past-president of the French Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Urology (SFUPA), and the president-elect of the European Society for Pediatric Urology (ESPU). He has been awarded in April 2013, the title of “Chevalier de l’ordre national de la legion d’honneur” by the President of the republic of France

Prof. JL Pippi Salle

Prof. JL Pippi Salle

Dr. Pippi Salle is a Professor at the Division of Urology, SickKids Hospital and Co-Director of the Center for Pelvic Reconstruction. He was the former Chief of Urology of the Montreal Children’s Hospital, Toronto Sick Kids Hospital in Canada and Sidra Medicine in Doha, Qatar. Dr. Salle is a pediatric urologist with special interest in genito-urinary reconstruction. He is an innovative surgeon who developed new techniques for the correction of urinary incontinence, disorders of sex development, hypospadias, exstrophy complex and UPJ obstruction. He published 180 papers in peer reviewed journals and 55 book chapters. He was a visiting professor in 40 countries and associated editor of the textbook Clinical Pediatric Urology, one of the most prestigious in the specialty. He is accomplished teacher having received several teaching awards at University of Toronto and McGill University, in Canada. He was the inaugural Women’s Auxiliary Chair of Urology at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto is proud of having trained many of the world leading pediatric urologists. In 2019 he received the Life Achievement Award by the World Federation of Pediatric Surgeons (WOFAPS) in recognition for his academic contributions to pediatric urology worldwide.

Prof. Ahmed Hadidi

Prof. Ahmed Hadidi

Prof Ahmed Hadidi is the chairman of Pediatric Surgery Department, Sana Klinikum Offenbach, and the director of the Hypospadias Center, Germany. Prof Hadidi is the editor of the book “Hypospadias Surgery, An illustrated Textbook, Springer Verlag 2022” and” Hypospadias Surgery; The Art and Science, Springer Verlag 2004”.
He has published more than 100 scientific papers and book chapters.
Professor Hadidi is the winner of the Pulvertaft Prize of the British Society of Hand Surgery, Hamdy Prize of Cairo University and the History club of the British Association of Pediatric Surgery.
Prof. Hadidi was invited and organized Hypospadias Workshops in about 60 countries all over the world. He is the Honorary President of the Hypospadias International Society (HIS).
