Parents taking care of children with chronic health problems need all the help they can get, and that’s what we at Sidra Medicine are here to provide. Our team is trained on the specific conditions, diseases, and disorders that affect children. We focus on both preventative care, treatment and advocate for children and their families on a local and national level. Our ambulatory clinical services accept referrals from pediatricians and family doctors looking for a second opinion from a multidisciplinary team of professionals. In addition to clinical care, the General Pediatrics team plays a major role in teaching medical students, pediatric residents and fellows.
The clinical programs of the Division of General Pediatric include:
- General Pediatric Inpatient Unit (Clinical Teaching Unit) is the largest in-patient unit at Sidra Medicine, with a focus on assessment and treatment with high quality family-centered care. We provide care to children presenting with acute and complex, multisystem diseases, or undiagnosed conditions requiring multidisciplinary care and close partnership with pediatric sub-specialty clinical services.
- Pediatric Outpatients Consultation Clinics - Referrals accepted from pediatricians and family doctors who require a second opinion or assessment and management by an interdisciplinary team.
- Pediatrics Complex Care program is a shared management model designed to bring benefit to children living with multiple complex chronic conditions and life limiting diseases. The aim is to close any gaps in care, improve coordination of care, foster collaboration and achieve excellence in the delivery of services to and the outcomes for every child in our care who lives with complex long-term medical conditions.
