PMFG 2025 highlights 11 years of milestones in Precision Health and Genomics

Doha, Qatar, 2 December 2025 – Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), today attended the opening of Sidra Medicine’s Precision Medicine and the Future of Genomics (PMFG) Summit 2025 at the Qatar National Convention Centre. 

The opening ceremony was also attended by His Excellency Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health; senior officials and government leaders; diplomats as well as high-level representatives from international healthcare and academic institutions.

Marking the start of the three-day summit on precision medicine, genomics and health innovation, the opening ceremony featured keynote speeches by Julia Vitarello, Founder and CEO of Mila’s Miracle Foundation, and Prof. Ed Liu from The Jackson Laboratory. It concluded with a summit flagship opening panel “From Personalized to Population-Scale: Building a Thriving Precision Medicine Sector in Qatar”.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Khalid Fakhro, Chief Research Officer at Sidra Medicine said: “As we celebrate 11 years of PMFG, we reaffirm our commitment to driving genomic science, translational research, and real-world precision health implementation. We are also grateful to all the speakers, sponsors, partners, attendees and the growing Qatari scientific community who make this event special, and to our organizing team at Sidra Medicine who work relentlessly behind the scenes to deliver an exceptional conference experience for all.”

The PMFG Summit 2025, under the patronage of Qatar Foundation and co-organized by Sidra Medicine and Qatar Precision Health Institute, focuses on three major transformative pillars: AI in Genomics, Clinical Trials and Real-World Implementation; Precision Medicine Implementation/Population Genomics & Future Frontiers; mirroring a comprehensive direction to integrate research, technology, and clinical care into population-scale practice.

Day 2 of PMFG 2025 on 3 December will feature:

  • The Opening Plenary Lecture on rapid genome sequencing and precision clinical care by    Dr. Stephen Kingsmore
  • A high-level Panel session with leaders from global biotechnology, investment and national innovation sectors.
  • Key sessions exploring clinical trials, rare-disease therapeutics and translational medicine.
  • Strategic discussions on AI-driven healthcare, technological innovation, and genomic data infrastructure
