Bouthayna Al-Tamimi
Dr. Al-Tamimi is a Cleft and Craniofacial Consultant Orthodontist specializing in complex orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics. She qualified from the prestigious King’s College London and then commenced her post-graduate specialist training in Orthodontics at Guy’s Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital. She simultaneously completed a Masters in Orthodontics from King’s College London as well as her Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
Prior to joining Sidra Medicine, Dr. Al-Tamimi worked as a Cleft and Craniofacial Fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital London and completed a rigorous Consultant program at the Eastman Dental Institute and Kingston Hospital.
After 20 years in the U.K., Dr. Al-Tamimi joined Sidra Medicine in 2021 to deliver orthodontic care for children born with cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, and other facial disfigurements. She specializes in the management of complex multidisciplinary cases and has a particular interest in establishing Sidra Medicine as a center of excellence for cleft lip and palate care.
Her experience includes but is not limited to the management of patients with severe malocclusions, skeletal or jaw deformities, congenital craniofacial anomalies, cleft lip and palate, and sleep apnoea. Her expertise also includes the management of patients requiring orthognathic surgery and distraction osteogenesis. She takes the utmost care to make patients and their families feel at ease and has a friendly approach tailoring treatment to individual needs and expectations.
Dr. Al-Tamimi has published in many peer-reviewed journals and has lectured nationally and internationally. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the recipient of the Ronald Gain Prize.
