Microbiome Service

The Laboratory of Microbiome and Biomarkers Discovery provide high-resolution data to bridge the gap between Biomarker Discovery and Microbiota-based Therapeutics. We offer state-of-the-art sequencing and bioinformatics to characterize microbial communities across various body sites (stool, oral, vaginal, blood, breastmilk, skin swabs, tissue biopsy, etc.).

We provide several key analytical and processing services for academic and industry investigators. Our foundational service is microbial DNA Extraction, preparing high-quality samples efficiently for subsequent analysis. For standard profiling, we offer 16S and 18S (or ITS) RNA Gene Sequencing, a cost-effective method for profiling microbial communities. This analysis identifies a broad range of Microbial species or bacterial, fungal, archaeal, and eukaryotes within mixed populations, providing foundational insights into community structure.

For comprehensive, high-resolution insights, we offer Shotgun Metagenomics. This advanced analysis identifies nearly all members of a microbial community and provides a detailed functional profile of their activities, allowing identification of organisms at the species and strain level. For shotgun sequencing, DNA is purified and randomly fragmented into smaller pieces prior to sequencing. Following data acquisition, our Microbiome Composition Analysis service utilizes cutting-edge software platforms for detailed statistical interpretation and ecological network modeling, translating raw data into meaningful biological understanding.

These services support high-impact research applications, including the identification of disease-associated microbial signatures, development of non-invasive biomarkers, and mechanistic insights into microbiome–host interactions across diverse disease models.
