Genomic Data Science Core

The Genomic Data Science Core, or GDSC, provides the essential computational infrastructure for processing and analyzing complex omics datasets. GDSC works in close coordination with both the Clinical Genomics Laboratory and the Omics Core to ensure data generated through sequencing and molecular workflows is processed efficiently and interpreted accurately.

The Core has developed and implemented a clinical-grade pipeline for Whole Genome Sequencing, which supports the Pathology Department with reliable, timely, and standardized genomic data for clinical decision-making. In addition, the team builds and maintains a suite of custom bioinformatics workflows for various data types including bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing from next- and third-generation platforms.

GDSC offers quality control, alignment, analysis, and reporting across all supported data types. It also collaborates with the Scientific Computing team to ensure seamless execution of pipelines on Sidra’s high-performance computing infrastructure, allowing researchers and clinicians secure and scalable access to their results.

By turning raw data into actionable insights, GDSC enables researchers and clinicians to interpret the biology behind the data and drive real-world impact in both research and patient care.
