Through PFAC, patients, families, and caregivers work alongside our clinical and administrative teams to help shape how care is delivered.

The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) at Sidra Medicine represents a group of patients, family members, and caregivers who meet regularly and work with our administrative and clinical teams to advance best practices at our hospital.
Your input will provide guidance on how to improve the patient and family experience at Sidra Medicine.
Who is a Patient and Family Advisor?
Patient and Family Advisors are volunteers who represent the voices of patients and families who receive care at Sidra Medicine. They work in partnership with doctors, nurses, leaders, and staff to help improve care for all patients and families.

What do advisors do
As a Patient and Family Advisor, you may:
- Share experiences and insights in a respectful, collaborative environment
- Participate in council meetings and focused discussions
- Join as consistent members in workgroups or taskforces for specific services, projects, or initiatives
- Participate in patient-related events to represent Sidra Medicine Patients
- Review patient-facing materials, policies, procedures, and other documents
- Support co-design of patient- and family-centered solutions

Anyone who has received care at Sidra Medicine or is a family member of someone who has received care is welcome to apply. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about healthcare improvement and are willing to share their experiences and perspectives.
Anyone who has received care at Sidra Medicine or whose family member has is welcome to apply. We aim to include diverse perspectives and lived experiences.
While no professional experience is required, we prefer applicants who hold a university certificate. What matters most is your experience as a patient or family member and your desire to contribute meaningfully.
We ask for a minimum commitment of 1–2 years, with attendance at a 90–120 minute meeting every other month. However, we understand that personal situations vary and will work with you as best we can.
No, this is a voluntary position. However, your contributions are greatly valued and recognized as an essential part of our improvement efforts.
Yes. Advisors will be guided and supported throughout their journey. We provide background information, training, and updates to ensure your contributions are impactful.
Yes. All meetings and written communication are conducted in English, so fluency is required to participate effectively.
You must have been a patient at Sidra Medicine (or the family member of one) to apply. Your experience may be recent or from the past several years.

We currently accept adult applicants aged 18 and over for the Patient and Family Advisory Council. If you are under 18, you can still get involved through our Youth Advisory Council.
