Sidra Medicine to launch first symposia on Pediatric Precision Medicine at CUDOS Congress 2019

Doha, Qatar, 17 November 2019: Sidra Medicine’s upcoming CUDOS Congress 2019 based on the Current Understanding on Diabetes, Obesity, and Related Syndromes will host a symposia on Pediatric Precision Medicine.

CUDOS Congress 2019 will be held from 20th to 26th November at Qatar National Convention Center. The congress’ primary focus is on genomics and clinical research as well as the care and treatment of children and young people with diabetes, obesity and related syndromes.

Dr. Ammira-Sarah Akil, Sidra Medicine Principal Investigator, Founder of CUDOS Scientific series and Chairperson of CUDOS Congress 2019 said: “This is the first time Sidra Medicine is hosting a genomics focused symposia on pediatric precision medicine at CUDOS Congress 2019. It will feature two tracks, the first based on Sidra Medicine’s roadmap towards precision medicine immunology and the second track based on neuro-critical care.”

“Sidra Medicine has made several strides in its precision medicine journey and CUDOS Congress 2019 will be an opportunity for us to provide updates from both the clinical and research components. The congress is also an important educational event, as it will take a holistic approach across the spectrum of pediatric healthcare and research covering technology; prevention; treatment; nursing; basic, genomics and clinical research; and precision medicine.”

The pediatric precision medicine symposia will be held on the 26th of November 2019 and will be led by Dr. Khalid Fakhro, Acting Chief Research Officer at Sidra Medicine and Head of its Precision Medicine Program. Sessions include presentations and case studies from Sidra Medicine clinicians and researchers on a variety of precision lead programs in pulmonology, child and adolescent mental health, epilepsy, cancer immono-genomics and developmental disorders.

The congress has also confirmed several new speakers and presenters including Dr. Elias Zerhouni, President of Global Research & Development and member of the board of governors at Sidra Medicine; Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al Thani, the Director of the Public Health Department from Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health; Dr. Abdulwahab Al Musleh, Deputy Executive Director of Medical Affairs, LOC Medical Director from the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy; H.E Jassim Rashid Al Buenain, the Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Prof. Hakon Hakonarson, Director of the Center for Applied Genomics at the Joseph Stokes Jr. Research Institute of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, U.S.A.

CUDOS 2019 has been accredited as a Group Learning Activity (Category 1) for 46 hours by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners and by the Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
