Overview
The Basic Clinical and Surgical Skills (BCSS) Workshop is a hands-on educational program by Sidra Medicine, designed to enhance the foundational clinical and surgical competencies of healthcare professionals and trainees.
Through interactive skill stations, simulation-based learning, and expert-guided practice, participants will develop essential procedural, clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills required for safe and effective patient care. The workshop emphasizes deliberate practice, patient safety, and evidence-based approaches to clinical and surgical skill acquisition.
Objectives
- Apply aseptic techniques and infection prevention principles during wound dressing, wound care, and tracheostomy care.
- Demonstrate correct gowning and gloving, instrument handling, knot tying, and basic suturing techniques.
- Perform a s`tructured trauma assessment, including FAST/eFAST, and identify appropriate clinical actions based on findings.
- Demonstrate emergency airway and thoracic procedures, including basic airway management, needle decompression, and chest tube insertion.
- Perform common clinical procedures such as nasogastric tube insertion, Foley catheterization, peripheral IV cannulation, central venous cannulation, and basic casting and immobilization techniques.
