Essentials of Tracheostomy Care in Pediatrics
Overview
This workshop is designed to enhance and standardize the care provided to children with tracheostomies. It highlights evidence-based practices and internationally recognized clinical standards that support safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
Participants will engage in hands-on skills demonstrations, gaining practical experience in tracheostomy management, troubleshooting, and family-centered education approaches. By the end of the session, attendees will be equipped with essential competencies to improve clinical outcomes and promote patient safety.

Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- To discuss the continuum of care from initial tracheostomy tube insertion through to the discharge process
- To demonstrate tracheostomy tube routine care and emergency management of blockage, bleeding and accidental decannulation
- To initiate a multidisciplinary educational plan for patients and their families in preparation for transitioning to home and community
