Cerebral Palsy: Yahya’s Milestones

Cerebral Palsy: Yahya’s Milestones

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy since birth and Autism a few years ago, Yahya’s journey at Sidra Medicine reminds us that true ability isn’t measured by what comes easily but by the courage to keep moving forward.

Thanks to our multidisciplinary approach to care from across neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery; rehabilitation Medicine; physiotherapy and orthotics; we have witnessed and celebrated Yahia’s incredible progress every step of the way.

Commenting on Yahya’s journey, his mother said: “Our journey was full of resilience and hope. While many take walking or playing for granted, for us it required extra effort. However, Yahia’s courage and smile reminds us that true ability is about determination and love. The care he received as a patient and the guidance we received as his family made a real difference. We have seen significant improvements in his mobility and in his overall wellbeing.”

As a result of his improved mobility, Yahya’s physiotherapy sessions have gone down from daily sessions to three times a week. He is now able to walk longer distances independently without the use of assistive devices.

“I will never forget the first time he stood by himself. Every milestone is a real victory.  Yahia is curious, determined and full of potential. We are incredibly proud of his journey.”

Yahya, who is now nine years old, currently attends school and wants to become a paramedic.
