Clinical Genomics Laboratory (CGL)

The Clinical Genomics Laboratory, known as CGL, serves as the genomic engine of Sidra Medicine. It offers a broad range of sequencing technologies to support both research studies and clinical applications. These include Whole Genome Sequencing, Whole Exome Sequencing, total RNA sequencing, mRNA and small RNA sequencing, differential 3’ gene expression analysis, and single-cell RNA sequencing using 10X Genomics.

CGL combines robust wet-lab workflows with automation to ensure high-throughput and reproducible sample preparation. Hamilton Robotics platforms handle large volumes efficiently, while sample quality is assessed using high-end analytical instruments.

The laboratory operates on some of the most advanced sequencing systems available today. These include Illumina sequencers for high-throughput applications, and the Element Biosciences technology for mid-throughput sequencing, single-cell and multi-omics applications.

CGL provides not only sample processing and sequencing, but also consultative support in experimental design and protocol optimization. It plays a pivotal role in bridging research and clinical practice, particularly through its CAP-accredited workflows.
