Johnny Awwad

Executive Chair of Women’s Services

Dr. Johnny Awwad has 25 years of experience as a Fertility Consultant. After completing a fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the Massachusetts General Hospital – Harvard Medical School, he joined the American University of Beirut Medical Center where he set the foundations for In Vitro Fertilization and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
He then received his certification in Embryology and Andrology from the American Board of Bioanalysis as a high complexity laboratory director (HCLD).

Dr. Awwad is a Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and founding Head of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He is also the founder of the Cryopreservation and Pre-Implantation Genetic programs at the same institution.

He has been past President of the Middle East Fertility Society and has recently received the STAR Award at the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.

Gbemisola Okunoye

Dr Gbemisola (Shola)  Okunoye is the Division Chief of Obstetrics at Sidra Medicine. He joined Sidra Medicine as a Senior Attending Physician in 2014. He is an experienced and passionate clinician with unique expertise and specialized skills in the care of pregnancies complicated by medical disorders, particularly Diabetes. He provides personalized and quality obstetric care that stretches from pre-pregnancy period right through to the post-partum period. Dr Okunoye believes that pregnancy is a unique lifetime event and he maintains an inclusive approach as he supports pregnant women and their families through the different phases of pregnancy and childbirth. He provides an unhurried service, always with a smile. He actively supports a process of continuous improvement in the quality of care in hospitals through his expertise and training in healthcare education, leadership and quality. Prior to relocating to Qatar, he worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the University Hospital of South Manchester, where he was the Lead for the Maternal Medicine service.

Suruchi Mohan

CCT, DFSRH, MBBS, MRCOG, MS

Attending Physician, Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr. Suruchi is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Sidra Medicine. As an experienced Obstetrician and Gynecologist, she takes a keen interest in the care of women in pregnancy and delivery, having had advanced training in this area. She also provides general gynecology services, a full range of contraceptive services and outpatient hysteroscopy.
She leads the activities that ensure the pathways for Women entering the Women’s emergency and urgent care department are coordinated safely, by working with the multidisciplinary clinical team.

Working in collaboration with nursing and midwifery education, Dr. Suruchi supports the delivery of education to the clinical teams to maintain a high quality of clinical care for women.

Hala Abdullahi

CCT-UK, FRCOG, MBBS, MHPE, RCR/RCOG Dip

Senior Attending Physician, Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr Hala joined Sidra in May 2017. She takes an active role in supporting the service provision within the department through the development of several guidelines and as an active member of the Educational, Guidelines and Resuscitation Committees. She leads on the unit simulation training for emergency drills and is involved in many research projects.

Dr. Hala is an experienced Senior Obstetrician and Gynecologist, with over 20 years’ experience in clinical practice across different settings and resources. She completed structured postgraduate training in the Northeast of England and obtained Advanced training skills in labor ward practice and fetal Medicine. In addition, she has extensive experience in the medical and surgical management of low and high-risk pregnancies and general Gynecological problems.
