Workshop objectives:

  • Understand key simulation concepts and pedagogical strategies to effectively enhance learner engagement in simulation-based education.
  • Demonstrate effective facilitation techniques to guide learners through simulation-based education and debriefing sessions.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership in facilitating interdisciplinary teamwork and communication during simulated scenarios.
  • Operate and utilize simulation technology, manikin software, and equipment effectively to maximize learning outcomes.

This activity is an Accredited (Category 1) as defined by DHP and is approved for a maximum of 12.25hrs.

Basic Practical Application of Scenario Building Using HPS Software (UNI & LLEAP)

Each group will be given specific HPS software to create a scenario.

  • Learn how to create and customize training scenarios using HPS software (UNI & LLEAP) through hands-on practice.
  • Develop the skills to apply realistic simulation scenarios, using HPS software, to enhance training outcomes and learner engagement.

Building up a Clinical Scenario

(A total of two groups will participate, with each group having the opportunity to create a scenario.)

  • Understand the key components and steps involved in creating a realistic clinical scenario for training purposes.
  • Gain hands-on experience in designing a clinical scenario, focusing on the integration of clinical skills, patient outcomes, and effective teaching strategies.

Directing and Conducting a Simulated Scenario with Faculty Led-Debriefing.

(A total of two groups will participate. Each group will have 55 minutes to run the scenario, followed by a faculty-led debrief.)

All Facilitators

  • Learn how to effectively direct a simulated scenario, focusing on managing the flow, maintaining realism, and engaging participants.
  • Develop the skills to lead a faculty-led debriefing, using structured feedback and reflection techniques to enhance learning and performance after the simulation.
