        Pediatric Emergency Resuscitation Program

In collaboration with our sophisticated simulation centre, the Emergency Department at Sidra Medicine is commencing the Pediatric Emergency Resuscitation Program (PERP). This One-day simulation-based teaching program is a QCHP approved CME activity with Category 1 & 3 points.

There is a growing need for comprehensive, patient-centred medical services for children in Qatar. Our vision is to upskill health care professionals who provide acute care to children through education and training.

With a highly trained clinical team of Senior Pediatric EM Consultants, Nursing leaders and Educators we ensure high quality, inter-professional learning. Our ambition is to develop critical skills and effective team behaviours in a safe, constructive environment with plenty of opportunities to practice and clarify any doubts.

This program provides a robust opportunity for health care professionals to practice management of acute Pediatric emergencies, including medical and trauma resuscitation of critically ill children. The program is delivered as a combination of interactive lectures and simulation-based sessions, offering a chance for hands-on practice alongside the professional facilitators followed up with a comprehensive debrief.

This program is very different from APLS and PALS course, whereby the candidates have the opportunity to take the leadership role of the resuscitation of acute emergencies under the supervision and guidance of a facilitator. The course has the latest updates and evidence based guidance for managing acute pediatric resuscitation. There is no assessment during the course and the idea is to provide a positive learning experience for adult learners and sharing information to provide better care to our patients in future.

                                          • Use the Health application on your smartphone to track your daily steps count.

Walking has several known benefits, including improving general health, maintaining a healthy weight, strengthening bone and muscles, increasing energy levels, and reducing stress. However, remember your steps at work count as well.

Challenge 2: Dexterity – Coordination Challenge

                                          • Throw a rubber or tennis ball against a wall and catch it as many times as you can in 30 seconds
                                          • The ball must not hit the ground in the entire duration
                                          • This video (link) will demonstrate how

This challenge helps strengthen your arm muscles, improves coordination and promotes alertness.

Challenge 3: Plank for Good Health Challenge

                                          • Hold the plank position with an upright soft toy or paper cup placed in the centre of your back.
                                          • The aim is to plank for as long as possible before the object falls off.
                                          • This video (link) will demonstrate the correct anatomy for the plank

The plank exercise helps maintain a healthy posture, balance and coordination, builds core strength, and improves overall mental health

Challenge 4: Display Your Juggling Skills Challenge

                                          • Preferably, use a large ball like a football
                                          • Focus and balance are essential in this challenge.
                                          • Keep the ball in the air as much as possible
                                          • Keep your sight on the ball, and maintain a good balance
                                          • It’s down to you to do as long as possible without dropping the ball
                                          • This video (link) will demonstrate the correct way to do it

Juggling helps to improve coordination, body control, balance and focus.

                                          Challenge 5: Mindful Moments Challenge

                                          • Find a comfortable place to sit either on a chair or the floor
                                          • If you are sitting on a chair, keep your legs bent and straight without straining your knees in any way, and make sure your feet can touch the ground.
                                          • If you are sitting on the floor, sit cross-legged. Place your hands in your lap and keep your spine straight and your body relaxed.
                                          • Close your eyes, and focus on your breath
                                          • Sit still for 5 minutes
                                          • This video (link) will demonstrate the correct way to do it

The benefits of mediation include increasing self-awareness, focusing on the present, reducing clutter and increasing mindfulness
