Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi
Acting Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi is Sidra Medicine’s Acting Chief Medical Officer. He is responsible for the leadership of the hospital’s medical staff, upholding its clinical excellence and patient safety programs and ensuring that patients receive safe and effective medical care.
Dr. Al Hammadi earned his MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree at Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1998. He completed two pediatric residencies, one at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar, in 2003 and another in 2008 at British Colombia Children's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada.
In 2010, Dr. Al Hammadi was awarded a fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics from the renowned Sick Kids Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada, and is a board-certified fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is also the program director of Sidra Medicine's pediatric fellowship and residency programs and assistant professor of pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar. He served as the Executive Chair of Pediatric Medicine at Sidra Medicine preceding his appointment as Acting Chief Medical Officer.
In a previous role at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar, Dr. Al Hammadi was the Chief of General Pediatrics and co-founded the hospital's Professionalism Course and Workshops. He was appointed to the examination board of the Pediatrics Arab Board in 2011 and is a member of the American Academy of Paediatrics and Canadian Paediatrics Society. He is an international member of the Review Committee-International (RC-I) for Medicine-based programs and also reviews and makes recommendations on AGCME-I programs for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Dr. Al Hammadi's research interests include vaccines, urinary tract infections in children, pediatric medical education, and health promotion. He is actively involved in medical education and has led several workshops locally and internationally.
