Abstract Submission Guidelines

Present your cutting-edge discoveries as part of PMFG’s comprehensive scientific program that includes renowned speakers from around the globe.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Abstracts must be written in English and include citations (max 5 references).
  • Indicate which theme your abstract falls under:
    • Innovations in functional assays that help model disease and elucidate the mechanisms
    • Large-scale population genomic programs for mapping global genome variations
    • Growing roles of advanced therapies for rare/orphan disorders and cancers in advancing personalized medicine
    • Population and newborn screening and impact of genomic policies on public health outcomes
  • Abstract must be submitted on or before September 9 at 4:00 PM, Doha time (GMT+3).
  • E-posters are not accepted.
  • Selected candidates must register and pay the registration fees.
  • The Scientific Organizing Committee will review all submissions.
  • Abstract content must contain unpublished material.
Review Process

Abstracts will be scored on the following criteria:

  • Applicability to PMFG 2023 themes
  • Scientific merit
  • Originality of work
  • Adequate sample size and statistics

Acceptance

The Scientific Committee will review all submitted abstracts. Notification regarding abstract acceptance will be sent to the submitting author via e-mail. All notifications of schedule and correspondence will be directed to the submitting author via email.

Abstract Structure
  • Title – Should be written in sentence structure (capitalize the first word and remaining words begin in lower case – max 25 words).
  • Author Names – should begin on the line immediately after the Title. If there are multiple authors underline the name of the presenting author.
  • Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author’s name and in front of the appropriate address. Also indicate in superscript who will be the presenting and corresponding author with * and #, respectively.

Note: Title, authors’ names and affiliations must be positioned at the top center of the abstract. Leave a single line space between the affiliation address(es) and the beginning of the abstract paragraph.

  • The abstract cannot exceed 300 words (not including references) written in single space.
  • Abstract should contain:
    • A sentence indicating the problem or biological question that the study addresses
    • Statement describing the study’s main discovery
    • Brief summary of methods and results
    • Statement of the conclusions
  • Abstracts must be data-driven and must include this information in the body of the abstract.
  • All abbreviations need to be defined when first used.
