Professor Ibrahim Janahi

Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Janahi is a distinguished leader in pediatric pulmonology and medical education. He serves as a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar and Pediatric Pulmonologist at Sidra Medicine, Qatar. In addition to these roles, he is the Chairman of the Department of Medical Education, and Chief Medical Officer at Sidra Medicine.
Prof. Janahi’s influence extends beyond Qatar to the wider region and international arenas. He is the Founder and President of the Gulf Society for Pediatric Respirology (GSPR) and a founding member of the Arab Pediatric Pulmonology Association (APPA). His expertise is recognized globally, as evidenced by his roles on advisory boards of prominent international organizations in pediatric pulmonology and medical education. He also contributes to the field through his work on the editorial boards of both regional and international scientific journals.
A respected regional reference in pediatric pulmonology, Prof. Janahi’s clinical practice includes interventional pulmonology, chronic lung diseases with genetic association, and rare lung diseases in children. His groundbreaking research includes a critical study on the prevalence of pediatric asthma in Qatar conducted in 2006, and a pioneering investigation that charecterized the physiological, genetic, epigenetic, metabolomic, and lipidomic factors influencing asthma and obesity in children.
Prof. Janahi has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to several book chapters, underscoring his significant impact on the field. His leadership, research, and clinical expertise have established him as a leading figure in pediatric pulmonology both regionally and globally.
