QF Entity recognized for excellence in obstetric anesthesia care by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology
The Obstetric Anesthesiology service at Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, has been awarded Center of Excellence designation by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology (SOAP), for demonstrating excellence in obstetric anesthesia care.
The SOAP Center of Excellence designation recognizes institutions and programs that demonstrate excellence in obstetric anesthesia care, sets a benchmark level of expected care to improve the standards nationally, and provides a broad surrogate quality metric of institutions providing obstetric anesthesia care.
Dr. Franco Moscuzza, Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Sidra Medicine said: “I am very proud of the service’s certification by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology – an internationally recognized body that designates this status based on expert consensus and evidence based recommendations. The designation means that the quality and safety of Sidra Medicine’s adult anesthesiology service is on par with some of the best hospitals in the world, alongside centers such as Johns Hopkins, Stanford University and the Mayo Clinic. The criteria for the SOAP’s Center of Excellence certification for Sidra Medicine’s service, covers all aspects of obstetric anesthesia at the hospital - including personnel and staff; technology and equipment; protocol and policies; simulation and team training; emergency management and labor pain relief.
