Dr. Abdel-Fattah graduated from Ain-Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1985 and obtained MSc degree from the same university in 1989 then MD in 1994 after completing the MD thesis in Glasgow. Obtained MRCOG in 1996 then FRCOG in 2008. Completed fetal medicine training in Bristol and has been a consultant in Obstetrics & Fetal Medicine since 2002, initially at St Michael’s hospital in Bristol then at Southmead hospital in Bristol, UK, and Honorary Senior Lecturer, University of Bristol. Sherif published widely in different areas of Fetal Medicine, such as prenatal diagnosis, fetal anaemia, fetal infections, non-invasive prenatal testing, and others. Regularly involved in managing complex fetal medicine cases, in addition to research and training in the field.
Dr. Abdel-Fattah held several national and international roles. He is Scientific Editor of BJOG since 2010. He was the RCOG MTI (Medical Training Initiative) Officer which is responsible for organising and supervising training for non-EU doctors in the UK. He was also member of the Part 2 MRCOG oral examination committee, DRCOG committee, the RCOG Specialist Education Committee and the Global Health Unit. Sherif is fluent in both English and Arabic.
