Dr Roopali Soni is a British Consultant Neonatologist who has worked at tertiary neonatal units in the Yorkshire and London regions for a number of years before joining the neonatal team at Sidra in 2018. She did her basic Paediatric training in South of London, followed by specialty training in Yorkshire. She has been in receipt of a number of awards, including the Innovations Award at a UK national conference. Dr Soni gained entry to the Specialist Register with a Certificate of Completion of training in Neonatology. Her main area of expertise is Family Integrated Care, which she has successfully implemented on 2 tertiary neonatal units in the UK. She was instrumental in propelling the first tertiary neonatal unit in the UK to achieve Unicef Baby friendly accreditation. At UCLH, London, she led the management and follow-up of infants with feeding difficulties and further developed her interests in infant nutrition.
Teaching and Education at postgraduate and undergraduate level have been an active part of Dr Soni’s career. She went on to implement a Parent Education Program for families as part of the Family Integrated care package. She holds the post of Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London and is an instructor at the Neonatal Life Support course. Dr Soni is a keen researcher. She has experience as Principal Investigator and has also actively contributed to various national and international portfolio trials. She obtained a Masters in Child Health from the University of Leeds wherein she performed research work on late-onset sepsis.
