    Dr Ravi Ranjan Massey qualified in 1981 from the Christian Medical College and Brown Memorial Hospital in Ludhiana in India. Following his basic medical qualification he did a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic surgery and Trauma in 1985. He moved to the United Kingdom in 1987 and from London University obtained a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma. With his special interest in paediatric orthopaedics and paediatric trauma he did a full-time Master’s degree in Trauma and Orthopaedics from Liverpool University in 1995. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child health in 1997 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Accident and Emergency Medicine in 1996. Dr Ranjan Massey was awarded the fellowship of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine in India and membership of the Global Association¬†of Emergency Medicine in 2014. He was awarded the fellowship from the Royal college of Emergency Medicine in 2008.

    Dr Ranjan Massey’s special field of interest is medical education and he was also the Postgraduate Clinical Tutor (Director of Post-graduate Medical Education) for Paediatrics in the Northwest Deanery in England. His other special interests are disaster planning for which he is the clinical lead for the ED. Dr Ranjan Massey also has a special interest in physical neglect, non-accidental injury and paediatric trauma. He visits various Universities in India three to four times a year to teach Paediatric emergency medicine residents.

    He has lectured widely, including nearly fifty national and international lectures. Dr Ranjan Massey delivered two lectures at the World Congress of Emergency medicine at Singapore in 2010 on Pitfalls in Paediatric Orthopaedics and Non-accidental injuries in children. Dr Ranjan Massey delivered a lecture on High risk Orthopaedic injuries at the International Summit on Emergency Medicine and Trauma 2014 at Pondicherry, India. More recently spoke on PACE conference 2016 in Guntur and EMCON 2017 in Madurai on Paediatric trauma and orthopaedics. In October 2017 he gave the keynote lectures on development and running of a major trauma centre and also on Emergency Preparedness at International Paediatric Surgery Conference in China.
