I trained in Medicine at the University of Melbourne. I completed my training in anesthesia and intensive care in Melbourne at the Austin Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital, and achieved specialist recognition in Australia by training and examinations via the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, and the College of Intensive Care Medicine of New Zealand and Australia. I then completed a fellowship as Chief Fellow in Intensive Care at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto in 1986.
Subsequently, I have worked at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth, Western Australia as a pediatric intensivist and anesthetist, and later as the head of department of anesthesia. I also worked in Saudi Arabia at King Faisal Specialist Hospital as a cardiac anesthetist and intensivist, and at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton as an anesthetist and as the head of pediatric intensive care.
Prior to coming to work at Sidra Medicine, I worked in private practice in Perth, Western Australia.My interests are in pediatric cardiac anesthesia, regional anesthesia, airway surgery and bariatric anesthesia.
