Dr Sheehan was educated at Blackrock College in Dublin, Ireland and received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1987. He completed his otolaryngology training at London and West Midlands Hospitals of the UK before undertaking pediatric Fellowship training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. He was the recipient of the Thomas Wickham Jones (TWJ) / University Hospital Network Fellowship to Toronto General Hospital and SickKids Hospital in 1999.
