    Cathy is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and undertook pediatric training in Perth prior to a fellowship in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology in Vancouver, Canada. Since 1992 she has been an attending physician and the Director of paediatric haematology /oncology and haemopoietic stem cell transplantation in Perth, and since 1997, also a haematopathologist and subsequently Director of paediatric laboratory haematology.

    In 2008 Cathy was appointed inaugural Professor of paediatric haematology and oncology at the University of Western Australia, and most recently was the Head of the School of Biomedical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

    Cathy’s research interests are in frontline clinical trials, national and international disease registries and translational research in pediatric leukemia for which she is Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids’ Institute in Perth. She has been a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) for over 25 years and Institutional Principal Investigator for 10 years. She has >100 peer-reviewed publications and maintains active grant funding.

    Cathy’s vision for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Services in Qatar include the development of accredited hemopoietic stem cell transplantation services and a commitment to manage patients on the clinical trials of the large co-operative groups such as COG and International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) as well as active membership of the Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean POEM group.

    Tumor banking and active participation in the Sidra Medicine Program will be integral to the service.
