Dr Assma is currently the Lead for the Day Care Unit and co-Chair for the Research Quality and Compliance Scientific Group at Sidra Medicine.
She holds a doctoral degree from University College London, which is ranked number 7 on QS World University Rankings and forms Europe’s largest Academic Health Science partnership. She is also due to be awarded a master degree in Medical Education from Dundee University (Scottish University of the Year in UK). In addition, Dr Assma holds a membership degree of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist UK.
Prior to joining Sidra, she worked as a Consultant and Lead for Postpartum Care at University College London Hospital (UCLH). She sat on the British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society (BMFMS) Labor and Delivery Sub-committee, being part of this prestigious subcommittee involves feeding back opinions to the BMFMS Labor & Delivery committee, with regard to new UK policy decisions, guidelines, relevant technological advances and national statements pertaining to Labor and Delivery. During this period she was awarded the RCOG Certificate of Recognition for contribution to training for the North Central and East London Training Region (2017).
Dr Assma carried out original researches, published articles in peer reviewed journals and presented in international conferences. She have special expertise in the field of hemgolobinopathies and haematological disorders in pregnancy, she have co-authored (together with some the world renowned experts in obstetrics and haematology) a book about hematological disorders in pregnancy published by Springer. Dr Assma have also been invited to speak nationally in the UK and internationally in this field. Her other interests are early pregnancy, maternal medicine and gynaeological surgeries and scanning.
