Dr Aliya is an experienced Obstetrician & Gynecologist with over 20 years of experience in clinical Obstetrics & Gynecology, education, training, simulation and leadership. She completed her structured postgraduate training in the West of Scotland deanery, in the United Kingdom.
She is trained in advanced labor ward practice, benign abdominal surgery and medical education. She is an Instructor for MOET (Managing Obstetric Emergencies & Trauma) and has trained consultants and senior trainees in England and Scotland on these courses. Dr Aliya is also a certified Instructor in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics).
Prior to joining Sidra, Dr. Aliya was a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist in the Directorate of Women & Children at Royal Alexandra Hospital, Scotland, UK.
Dr Aliya joined Sidra Medicine in 2015 as an Attending Physician and she also holds a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her areas of expertise include: Advanced labor ward practice, High risk pregnancy, General gynecology, Medical education, care of women with Female Genital Mutilation and life support training.
Dr Aliya is also trained in Newborn male Circumcision, has established this service at Sidra and is a Certified Trainer for this procedure.
In addition to providing excellent care in Obstetrics & Gynecology to the women of Qatar, Dr Aliya is also a Master Trainer in TeamSTEPPS and has regularly taught at these communication & Team work courses. She has presented at various national & International Conferences and also regularly performs peer reviews of scholarly articles in her field.
