Clint Hermes is Sidra Medicine's General Counsel, reporting to the Board of Governors.
Prior to joining Sidra Medicine, Clint served as Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the United States. At St. Jude, Clint led the institution’s Legal, Government Relations, Privacy, and Technology Licensing functions. Before joining St. Jude, Clint was a healthcare attorney in the Boston and New York offices of Ropes & Gray, where he was outside counsel to many of the top hospitals, health systems, universities and medical schools around the world, including over half the universities in the Ivy League.
Clint has played an active role in the legal community, with recent posts including Vice Chair of the Children’s Hospital Affinity Group of the American Health Lawyers Association, Editor of Bloomberg BNA’s Medical Research Law & Policy Report, health law lecturer at the University of Memphis School of Law, and Board member of the Memphis Bar Association. He has previously held positions on other non-profit Boards, and he vice-chaired a Harvard-affiliated research ethics committee. His volunteer legal work in Boston and New York resulted in Clint being awarded the Deb Levi Pro Bono Award in 2006.
With several dozen peer-reviewed publications in his field and over forty invited talks, Clint is recognized as a leader in healthcare and biomedical research law. In 2003, he was named a “Rising Star in Health Care Law” by Massachusetts Super Lawyers, and the following year, he was named by Nightingale’s Healthcare News among the ten best healthcare lawyers under the age of 40 in the U.S. Clint graduated in the top ten percent of his classes at Yale University and Harvard Law School, respectively.
