Dr. David Sigalet
Chief Clinical Services Officer
David Lyle Sigalet (MD) is the inaugural Clinical Chief of Surgery at Sidra Medicine.
In this role, Dr. Sigalet is responsible for leading Sidra Medicine’s surgical department, to ensure delivery of a high standard of patient focused and transformative care. He will drive forward innovation in research and medical education to place Sidra Medicine at the forefront of surgical expertise and progress. In addition to his role at Sidra Medicine, Dr Sigalet is a professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.
Dr. Sigalet is a Pediatric General Surgeon with over 25 years of experience in surgery, research and academia. His background in conducting pioneering research will be crucial for enabling Sidra Medicine to become a beacon for advancing standards of pediatric care globally.
Prior to joining Sidra Medicine, Dr. Sigalet was Professor of Surgery in the Department of Pediatric general Surgery at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, University of Calgary, one of Canada’s top research universities. Before taking up his position at the University of Calgary, Dr. Sigalet held a post at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor.
He is acting Vice President of the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons, a member of the Publications Committee for the American Pediatric Surgery Association and a member of the Editorial Boards of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and the Canadian Journal of Surgery.
