Under the auspices of HH Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Misned, and acting in response to an initiative of Her Highness, a group of distinguished world class Arab immigrant Scientists and intellectuals met in Doha 5-7 Dec 05. They discussed the foundation for the  "First Conference for Arab Immigrant Minds Doha- 2006" to put together a sustainable mechanism that would catalyze the partnership, facilitate the exchange and be the pool of information, funding and expertise. This conference aims at discussing the ways through which a partnership could be established with the Arab immigrant scientists for the benefit of Arab societies, and formulating a project/projects mirroring the urgent needs of developing scientific

The first meeting of the Follow Up Committee:

The majority (13 out of 16) members, along with (11) local members, of the Expatriate Arab Scientists Follow-up Committee, met in six sessions during September 17 and 18, 2006. The opening and concluding sessions were chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned. A review of the Qatar National Research Strategy was presented by the Advisor Research followed by the feedback on the draft working paper that was prepared for the meeting by QNRF.The participants formed three Working Groups, in Biomedical & Health, IT & Database and Water & Environment and drew up their respective actions plans as elaborated in The Declaration of the Follow Up Committee.
