Dr Barbara Blackie is an education lead and senior attending physician for Pediatric Emergency Services at Sidra, providing faculty development overseeing the education for the large multinational group of physicians who will open the Sidra Emergency Department and Urgent Care Center. She is on the frontline education team for the OPC opening and is a co- lead for the planning and implementation of the TeamSTEPPS program at Sidra. Barbara is very active in the CME/CPD process at Sidra, and Co-Chairs the CME/CPD working group. In addition she sits on the CME/CPD Advisory Committee at Weill Cornell, where she also has a faculty appointment as an assistant professor.
She moved to Doha with her family almost two years ago, and prior to the move worked in Canada at a tertiary care, level one trauma center for pediatrics affiliated with Dalhousie University School of Medicine. She brings with her 14 years of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Trauma experience. She held the role of Associate Chief for the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and was the Program Director for their accredited Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program. Barbara is an active educator of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees who holds a Master of Medical Education, and is currently pursuing options for a PhD in medical education focusing on faculty development and team training in simulation.
